| After watching Supernova this summer and catching American Idol off and on (don't you think the people on Supernova and INXS were SOOO much better than the ones on American Idol and America's Got Talent - although I did really like that little yoddeling girl) I've come to the conclusion that there are certain songs that should go on a "no singing list". So what are your picks and why?: Here's my pet peeve. Bohemian Rhapsody. K - give it up people - no one sings like Freddy Mercury and even Freddy couldn't sing that song live and make it sound like it was recorded. I saw him do it live years ago and it makes you realize how much that song is over-layed and processed. That song is so familiar to everyone that it never sounds good when someone else sings it. And what are your favourites: Mine was Magni doing "I Alone" by Live. Oh My God, I was ready to sell everything I owned and move to Iceland after that song but then I realized hey, I have no idea where Iceland is. All I know about the place is that they have itchy sweaters, very cool ponies and Bjork. Anyone else?

RockStar should stop including anything that is not cool to begin with (ie: Britney Spears/Bon Jovi etc.) Even talented singers have a hard time making these rock!
Without music, life is a journey through a desert.

good question!
agree completely with you on bohemian rhapsody and/or queen. i'd throw in anyone (usually female) trying to "rock" by singing melissa etheridge. i have yet to see ONE female on ANY of these singing shows tackle melissa convincingly. at the risk of sounding like simon cowell, they really do end up sounding like really bad karoke. *shudder*
and rockstar needs to stop with the early '90s tunes already. i know there's a limit due to licensing fees and all that but c'mon...magni breathed new life into an "old" rock song--i'd much rather hear how these singers/musicians interpret oldish, more familiar rock songs than hear YET ANOTHER version of "plush," ya know? just because it's more current doesn't mean it's good.
and frankly, i've given up on american idol. that show is so much damn fluff anymore, with what? maybe 3 songs and 40 minutes of filler....UGH. enough already.
besides, we all know that the talent pool on rockstar is a MILLION times better.

| I love all the the Singing REality Shows. I liked that brother duo on America's Got Talent with the one who played the harmonica. They were my fav. on that show. Loved Chris Daughtry and love his new stuff. Love Magni and all his Rockstar and A Moti Sol stuff. American Idol seems to have more leeway in songs. Rockstar's got to get more songs choices. Chris had no problem getting the right to cover Creed, Live, Seether, Fuel, Shinedown with Seether and Shinedown being pretty new bands. I like the bottom three as that seems to have some of knock out performances of the show with Magni's Creep a highlight this year even if Magni was singing sick. The song selection process needs to have some new blood as both this year and last have alot of the same songs. Kate aka Canadaformagni

| I didn't know he was sick when he did Creep - that was one of my favourite performances of his. Didn't you love that little girl on America's Got Talent that yodelled. I thought she was excellent and so cute. I also found those quick change artists fascinating. I've never really been into American Idol - although I love the audition shows at the beginning. I love Simon Cowell but I find Paula Abdul such a suck up that she's annoying. They all end up sounding like Celine Dion clones and god knows there just isn't enough room in Vegas for more than one Celine Dion. Was Chris the bald guy from Colorado that was a rocker? I liked him - was sorry to hear he got booted off.

| Yes Chris was the bald guy. He audtioned in Denver but is from Greensboro, NC. The reason he audtioned in Denver is because they had to cancel the only Southern audtion in Memphis because the stadium was needed for victoms of Katrina. So Chris bought ticekts to fly to Denver. Three days before he was to fly out they added Greensboro to the audition city but he decided he had already paid for the tickets he may as well go to Denver. He may have come in fourth but his CD was released on this past Tuesday and sounds like they can't keep it in stock. He will be alright. So he can say goodbye to the service job at the Honda dealership. LOL. I shoud have my Cd soon as it doesn't come out here in Canada till this week. Chris also did a Live song, their cover of Johnny Cash's I Walk The Line. Ed Kowalcyzk heard it and phoned Chris as there was some stink that Chris didn't thank Live but that part was cut from the show. Chris invited Ed to sing with him on the finale and they did Mystery from Live's latest CD. They also wrote some songs together. Live was the first concert Chris went to after winning tickets for singing a Live song over the phone. at age 16. After he saw Live live he knew that was what he wanted to do when he finished school and had his first band at 17. Kate

Don't be so quick to dump the seemingly unfitting covers i.e. britney spears. Did you see what Marty Casey did with "Oops, I Did it Again" last year? OMG...pure genius! A contestant has an opportunity to rearrange the song, be creative and truly make it their own. It is risky as hell...but sure fun to watch!

| Thanks, Pop...I stand corrected. Guess all the britney songs pretty much sound the same to me. None-the-less...Marty's arrangement was great!
