Oh that is very cool!!!! Great video!!! I hope they do something here for the Canada 8 Rowing Team (Gold) and the other Rowers (I think one silver and two bronze). Now it is hard to find something to watch on TV!!! Im still on the let down after the Olympics. Well will have lots of coverage for the Winter Olympics as it is here in BC in Feb. 2010!!!! So any Icelanders competing in the Winter Olympics!!!

What fun photos! I loved the one where the little boy was holding his Dad's medal. (I guess it's his Dad. I can't read Icelandic!) Congratulations, Iceland! :D

You don't have to worrie, this was supposed to be like that, they took a circle around Reykjavík and one fly-by over the airfield.:D:D

Everything under control :P

The pilot once was a golie in the national handball team, he was in the team when they ended in fourth place on the Olympics in Sidney (I think).

I think the reason why they did this so soon is most of the guys are playing abroad, Óli Stef in Spain, Guðjón Valur in Germany and so on, and they weren't going to come home to Iceland at first but did it by a request. So this was in fact the only time available.

Boy, that was a lot of lead-up to a 45 minute-ish program. :D That was interesting to watch, watching that I was thinking that Iceland the country (or maybe just Reykjavik) is the biggest small town in the world. ;) Poor guys though don't get a second to breathe off the plane...they did that with Magni too when he got back from RSSN, they should give them a day or two to breathe before the big to-do, Michael Phelps won't have his parade in Baltimore for another month! :)

The police said at least 30.000 and tonight the President will give them a medal of honour, Fálkaorðuna.

I was watching the game with my family this morning, waking up early and having some energized breakfast for the game ahead. I have to admit that I was really disappointed that we didn't get the gold, we were so so close, but none the less I am so proud of our handboll team to have gotten the silver medal in the Olympics and I'm certainly going to try to be there and welcome them back on Wednesday. When they were receiving their silver, I now there were mixed emotions among the team, since they really were setting their mind on the gold, but after the shock of loosing the game it was such a pleasure seeing them up there and seeing the Icelandic flag being raised up. Just to have the second best handball team in the world as of now is just amazing feeling.:D

Thank you for the congrats, we are pretty darn proud, to say the least :D:D:D:D

The award serimonie was at least 4 goosbumps and tears.

They'll have a VERY warm welcoming when they come home next Wednesday.

I fell asleep over the drumming so I missed out on Jimmy Page :w00t:

I went to sleep then got up at 5 to watch the closing ceremonies. Now got an hour before going to work. That was a great games!!!!! Great to see Jimmy Page playing on the guitar to change up the ceremony. I think I've heard enough Chinese drums for awhile lol. Congrats. on the Silver Iceland!!!! You should be very proud. Kate

Hey Guys!

Well, I woke up a little too late and missed the live game but watched on video. Congratulations, Iceland, for completely giving all that you had to get a silver medal in the Olympic games. You are definitely the "little country that could" and I am in awe of how such a small country can have such a huge heart and impact on the world. Each and every one of you are amazing! I am proud to be an "adopted step sister" of such a wonderful, proud country. Barbara

The silver is good but the gold would be better. I'm not sure Iceland will get such a change again soon.
