Anyway, just found one... this reporter from the UK newspaper the Guardian spent a bit of time in Iceland last month and part of is when he hit a gig Magni played - I'm thinking this is the Baltasar one that Pollyanna and Lolinna tried to go to! Anyway, any mention is a good mention (well at least 99% of the time ;) )

Inspired by supernovafans, 861dotinfo, and encouraged by Lee (mama) I'm starting a Haiku thread.

For those of you that do not know what a Haiku is, here's a short description: Haikus are short poems of three lines. Line one has five syllables, line two has seven and line three has five. Preferably line one shall be a statement or ended with a dot or something.

So, here's the first Magni-Ficent HAIKU:

So...while we were away, Magni had a big anniversary - ten years with A Moti Sol. A couple of Fridays ago, as part of the commemoration, the band did a blitz of three of the main radio stations in Iceland - I heard two of those - Bylgjan and Ras 2, but it was Ras 2 that actually had them perform. They did four songs - Sé þig seinna, Á þig, Mamma gefðu mér grásleppu, and a cover of Gleðibankinn (is it me or does some of the melody sound like the Stones' Under My Thumb?). I think the whole broadcast is still online but you have to really scroll over and find the exact spot... BUT, I did manage to record these, so you know what that means...the archives are open! ;)

Also while we were away, AMS posted a few videos from the past. Not quite sure what this first one is about... :hehe:

And then a couple clips of performances from when Magni had hair...

Audience scene is reminiscent of where I was in the inner circle at U2 this week...whew! The audience looks like babies there...

And finally, this video appeared on YouTube...I believe this performance is from late spring, the other guy is Magni's former SHAPE bandmate/cousin...

I think we're all caught up now... the new A Moti Sol album will be out in November! Wonder if all the singles from these past two years will be on it or if it will be all completely new songs...hmm...

Magni at Braedslan 2009

The dude continues to confound! :hehe: He did a very nice opening set at Braedslan just now - four songs!. If I Promised You the World, Icelandic song that I think is the song he sang on the kids show back when that video is floating around on (I'll look the title up shortly - [b]EDIT - it's Hlustid, godir vinir[/b]), Rangur Madur, and a FANTASTIC Hvar sem eg fer, he made me sigh on this one. All acoustic. He didn't say it, but as I said, it was his show and I'm on to his ways ;), so I was listening and got it all as separate files, think the quality will be pretty good. Got most of the chatter preceding as well, all of it is Icelandic but sounds like he was amusing. :D Archives will be open shortly, line forms to the left... :)

Also they played another If I Promised You before he went on - full band...not sure if this was from last night or 2007 or something else... don't think it was 2007, but will have to compare. I got that one too although the stream was a bit crackly at that point.

This weekend everyone around here is glued to a TV set. My team plays its second game in less than 2 hours, so I'm getting nervous. Thought I'd take a Magni break to calm my nerves! Ha! :w00t:

Two years ago tonight...I was on my way to Loveland, Colorado to FINALLY see Magni LIVE and in concert! :D Of course, as I reported back then...it was AMAZING, and well worth the treacherous drive (big snowstorm)! :w00t: In honor of that night & Magni's tour of the States...here are some excerpts from my review (good times...good times!):

Road Trip!: As you all know, when those a-hole RS:SN managers/suits pulled the old "bait and switch" and kicked Magni, Storm and OB:HB off the tour, I said...love ya Toby and Dilana but, NFW...not going to the concert. So I didn't buy a ticket. Then, a glimmer of hope...Magni was possibly joining the tour to back-up Dilana. I was waiting for Magni to confirm this before I bought a ticket. "Game on"...Magni confirms. I was about to buy a ticket...when, "game off"...Visa..DENIED!!!! So I didn't buy a ticket. It wasn't looking good for a Loveland appearance when..."game on"...Magni got his Visa. "Ok", I said, “gotta go!” Then my personal life got complicated and before I knew it...it was February 13th...the day of the concert. The weather sucked...I didn't have a ticket. So what did I do...I said, "what the f**k...I cut out of work early, jumped into my car and headed up to Loveland. I got to the event center around 5:45, parked and ran up to the ticket window and bought a ticket...and unbelievably, I was on the floor.....7th row...center! Sweet! :D Of course, this good news came with a price...a 45 minute wait...outside, in the friggin freezing cold, because God forbid if the jabronis who work at the event center would consider letting you wait in the lobby!

I'm finally in the arena...

Ok...I get to my seat...it's amazing....blah, blah, blah...the concert finally starts. Toby and his bandmates from Juke Kartel are first up. I make my way from the 7th row, down the isle to stand behind the seats in the 3rd row and snap a few pics. I stood up there for Toby's set and I've got to tell you...he and his bandmates rocked-it. He delivered the goods and left me wanting more. Very charismatic and full of energy. Love ya, Toby! And your mates.

After a quick stage change...Dilana and Magni were up. Truedog and Franny already gave you a breakdown of the set list so I won't repeat. Suffice to say...it was every bit as excellent as I imagined it would be. There are not enough superlatives to describe how completely kick-*** their set was. Magni's presence did not upstage Dilana in any way, but absolutely, dare I say, magnified her performance. ;) Dilana was fantastic. Her style is rockstar all the way. I took pics, and a couple of quick video clips (didn't want to spend all my time looking through the lens.

I think that the general concensus is that their set was too short...but thanks to you folks who saw earlier east coast concerts and posted your reviews, I knew exactly what to expect. Although I hated to seem them wrap up their set, I knew that was all we were going to get from them. I was just so happy to finally get to see/hear Magni perform and to be so close to the stage was a huge bonus. I was jumping up and down, screaming like a teenager...he looked over at me, laughed and stuck his tongue out. :P That was a nice Magni Moment...real or imagined! ;)

Okay....life was good...I'd seen Toby/Juke Kartel and Dilana/Magni. Honestly, I could have gone home at that moment, been a happy camper and felt like I'd gotten my $65 worth. But I had a happy non-alcohol induced buzz going on and, feeling very generous with my time, decided to keep the party going. Panic Channel was up next and after reading bad review after bad review...I wanted to check them out for myself. And I am so glad that I did! They totally rocked the arena! The critics are a bunch of idiots (of course, I pretty much always thought that***!).

Conclusion:

Well...all the opening acts were finished and the stage hands were prepping for RS:SN. It was decision time for me. "Do I stay or do I go?" And when I mean "go"...I mean "go find Magni". ;) ... I began my quest to find Magni...or find out if there was going to be a Meet & Greet/signing then...or after the show. Seriously folks, I asked EVERY event-staffer, security guard, beer vendor, t-shirt seller, customer service rep., custodian, Starbucks' barista, consessionaire, ticket taker...even the friggin' EMT....and the answer was either "I don't know" or a resounding "NO". So, I decided to stay for a couple of RS:SN tunes...and then cut out.

....after taking a final, desperate spin around the arena looking for Magni...I left and headed for my two-hour, white-knuckle ride back to the Springs. I arrived safely at my casa around 12:15 a.m....ears ringing and all! :D

1 concert ticket.....$65

Seeing/hearing Magni....Priceless :D

Icelandic Worm Monster?

Since it's kind of slow at the site today, I figured you all wouldn't mind if I diverged from a Magni-related topic. Because this truly was too good to pass up!

Please Icelanders...tell me what gives with this "Worm Monster" I heard about on a show called "Destination Truth". Unfortunately, I did not see the episode so I am really curious about this mysterious creature. Is it like the Loch Ness monster? Have any of you actually seen it? Here is a description from the "Destination Truth" website:

"Iceland: The Worm Monster
[Josh Gates] is on the hunt for a huge worm said to reside in the remote Lake Lagarfljót in Iceland. Most AMS albums now online

We've been talking about that it's difficult to buy past AMS albums...but hey, looks like most all of them have just been put online at Tonlist.is, the only one (with Magni) that I don't see is the last one but those are on the other albums, plus also they just put up Hvar sem eg fer and Hver einasti dagur, so that basically is the last album. Note that Gumpurinn is pre-Magni, just sayin'. :) The AMS listing is here:

It's more up tempo than the other two singles :D

They're taking all the time they need to make the album as good as it possibly can be, so no date, it'll just come when ready - like U2's new album:P And like U2 they hit a gold mine and are working it :cool:

Is wool itchy? What the heck does it mean its been brushed? Will this new scarf expect to be pampered and taken to a beauty salon? I usually dont groom my clothing, the still seem to like me. I really dont want to make a puchase and find out my new scarf is high maintenance, and if it makes me talk about my feelings all the time so help me I will send it back!

It's hit the paper in Iceland, so I guess I can say it here - Magni has been having a health issue recently - he's not dying or been bed-ridden or anything like that - but it has put a damper on his singing and recording the new AMS album, and last week he had a little surgery to try to correct it, which he came through fine - he's been home, online and communicating since then. I think the article says that he will be off for about six weeks or so. I'll leave it to an Icelander to translate the article more fully:

I just want to thank the girls that were at the show last night for putting up those vids - of course they had to put up the one song I sang in a wife beater ;)- I´m never doing that again btw.
I had the most fun ever doing that show and all the people on stage were amazing!

Lítill drengur (Little boy)

Magni just added a recording from 2004 of a song called "Lítill drengur" or "Little boy" in english, written and sung by Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson. This is a very old song (from 1977) and the singer died a year later in a car accident in Luxembourg. Next month a concert will be held in memorial of Vilhjalmur, since there is now 30 years since he died. Sadly, Magni will not be part of the group of singers, singing at that concert:crying:

LOL...and yes, I am laughing...cause this is just ridiculous....

sent me an e-mail yesterday of Magni from RSSN...doing "When Dolphins Cry" and said...holy shit...where has this guy been hiding..

I said F*** you..I sent you clips 2 years AGO...(ok..he is a friend..maybe I shoulda slept with him to prove a point..ok, I digress)
